Definitely assess your yarn purchases by weight -- if it doesn't outweigh you, you're OK!
Yardage is just way too scary, you start getting into calculations involving walking to San Francisco or halfway to the moon or something.

Sounds like an awesome time with Astrid & Greg all around!

Welcome home, little fledgling Odette. . . .

No, no, no, the only way to talk about yarn purchases is the number of skeins/cones. Unless you just bought one or two skeins of laceweight, then you mention the yardage/skein. At no point do you EVER refer to how much you paid for it. That's bad juju, and tends to make poor souls (like me) insanely jealous. But if I know you just bought x number of skeins, I can console myself that you just got a good deal. On cashmere. R-i-i-i-i-ght.

And when I'm doing spinning demos and am trying to tell people the difference between spinning and weaving (yes, you have to do that for some), I do my fingers just like Astrid did.

And OMG, you met Greg Bear???

During your last yarn crawl, while you were at Habu, Helen and I went to School Products. So I know of the wonders that you speak. Uh write, well type. You know. Too too much. I walked away with the cashmere shawl cardigan that was on the mannequin. You can just see the very edge in photo 5. More damage could be done.

Just loved reading both your and Astrid's report of the meet-up and subsequent Stash Enhancement eXperience. Kindred spirits! The photo sequence of Astrid speaking in Hands is just great.

It's good to know that Odette I is safe and sound.

I have to tell you, I gave a copy of your book to my dad for his birthday a few years ago. I am entirely charmed by the odd circularity of all things.
