Drat! I may never knit the socks, but now I HAVE to go figure out how the change-ringing notation works. Curse you for inspiring geeky obsessions! :)

For anyone else prone to this sort of mental aberration, Google Books has this:
Change Ringing: An Introduction to the Early Stages of the Art of Church Or Hand Bell Ringing for the Use of Beginners
By Charles Arthur William Troyte
Published by J. Masters, Exeter, H. S. Eland, 1872
which is, if nothing else, an entertaining example of the instructional style of the late 19th c.

"It isn’t for everybody, but it should be interesting to some - you know who you are."

*waves hand around* The elegance of it overwhelms me.

Worse, I know people who can ring from place notation. I think they're absolutely bonkers. But I aspire to be able to do that someday.

Who, us? Your devoted readers, knit from place notation?

......... It does have a certain appeal, now that you mention it...... Speaking only for myself, of course. :-D

For such a brief entry, this is overflowing with things I need to buy......

Well, to be honest, I **must** buy the bell markers. Because ever since I read about change ring knitting on your blog, I have realized that I **must** try it in all its geeky/dorky glory. There are no options. All the geeky parts of my brain are jumping up and down in excited expectation of doing this. The very first stop on the Rhinebeck tour is Building 26, Space D. I **must** buy bell markers. I **must** buy Nine Tailors. Only this will quiet the geeky parts for enough time to finish Christmas projects. After which... yeah, I'll be change ringing away!

Must. Have. Leaf. Kit.

And maybe one or two of your newly-released sock kits.

Drat, that you'll sell out at Rhinebeck, and won't have any available for mail order until you can arrange to put some more together.

Well, I clicked on over to the site with the spindles and oh my God. I must have one! Save one for me. They're beautiful.

You lost me with the whole change ringing notation thing. I promise to pay attention and I may understand one day.

Can't wait for tomorrow. The weather feels so appropriate.

P.S. I should have pictures of bridesmaid dresses tomorrow. Wedding gown will be finished next week. Film at 11.
