OK…please tell about that lacing….there was plenty of lacing of various sorts in the 18thC, but so far, I’ve only come across spiral lacing that was functional. Criss cross lacing abounds for decorative use. Who invented these shoes, where were they sold, were they custom made or mass produced, etc…?

Okay - I just have to interject here….”if the creek don’t rise” doesn’t refer to rising waters of small streams. It refers to the Creek Indians not rising in revolt.
